Strength, Resiliency, & Fortitude
Our programming is specifically designed to foster interpersonal connections that help patients move on from the heavy weight of diagnosis, treatment, and entry into their post-recovery life.
Resiliency and self-confidence are promoted through deeply encouraging activities, such as hikes, scenic river floats, wildlife viewing, summertime snow experiences, and direct engagement with raptors in recovery, symbolizing journeys similar to their own.
From witnessing persevering elk thriving in the most trying and intense environments, to encountering injured birds in rehabilitation, to “taking the reins” dog-sledding, these Grand Adventures provide endless opportunity for connection, palpable inspiration, encouragement of survivorship, and growth. We create, prioritize, and engage atmospheres of inspiration, empowerment, encouragement, and endless possibility.
Even before feet touch a trail, the primary experience of flying, as well as the independence and stability of living in a dorm with others like themselves, and making new friends, are critical experiential components of our program that fill a developmental hole for many participants.
Observation of the determination, perseverance and strength of the wildlife penetrates deeply, as patients watch and become inspired by the animals and their fortitude to ‘push through’ extreme elements, inevitable perils, the unknown, re-discovery, and challenging environments.
How it works
We work directly with your department and hospital staff to customize an experience for your patient group. We can provide existing itineraries for modification, or build one from scratch according to your unique treatment goals and patient interests.
1
We meet with your care staff to define care needs, highlight concerns, and align on target outcomes for your group. In correspondence with you, we will collaboratively create program goals to ensure our trip delivers tangible outcomes. Alignment here informs the broad direction of the trip prior to specific patient inputs on the trip.
The Grand Adventure team will coordinate directly with our on-site activity partners, guides and outfitters. We’ll present to you several trip itineraries to further refine.
3
2
Working with your department, we will involve the patient group representative to explore what activities and experiences excite and inspire them.
4
Our team also supports a door-to-door experience, assisting with travel logistics and group communications. Technology, healthcare needs, and specific care plan are carefully accounted for in our logistics and planning. The format of our trips allows for close communication between on-site staff, mentors and caregivers, and family, doctors, and hospital teams back home.
A Look Back:
